Emma Bridgewater Factory
Local highlightThe working pottery behind the polka-dot spongeware, in a Victorian factory beside the Caldon Canal in Hanley. Emma Bridgewater’s pieces are still made and hand-decorated here, and the factory opens to visitors: guided tours show the sponge-decorating process, a studio lets you paint your own mug or plate, and there’s a garden café. Tours and decorating sessions need booking ahead. Stoke-on-Trent station is under 2km to the south-west.
