Longton Park was given to the town in 1887 by the Duke of Sutherland to mark Victoria’s Jubilee, laid out by his land agent John Garrett as the first public park in the Potteries. It has kept its Victorian shape, with a clock tower, bandstand and three bowling pavilions, plus tennis courts and a skate park for a more modern crowd. Free to enter, open daily. Gladstone Pottery Museum is a short walk north, and the Trent & Mersey Canal passes a couple of kilometres west.
