Sixty acres of Staffordshire woodland on the Trentham Estate are given over to about 140 Barbary macaques, which roam free among the trees with no cages between them and you. A three-quarter-mile path winds through the wood, with keepers on hand to talk about the troop; the monkeys are the same threatened species found in the mountains of Morocco and Algeria. It opened in 2005 and charges for entry. Wedgwood station is about 2km to the east.
