Margery Fish made this the definitive English cottage garden, planting it densely from 1938 until her death in 1969 and championing an informal, low-maintenance style through her books. The winding paths and shady “ditch” hold a celebrated snowdrop collection, best in late winter, alongside rare hardy geraniums and hellebores. The garden near South Petherton is Grade I listed and an RHS partner. Paid entry.
