Barrington is a quiet ham-stone village near Ilminster, its thatched cottages built from the same golden stone as the country round about. The medieval church has an unusual octagonal tower, and the National Trust’s Barrington Court — an Elizabethan manor with walled gardens — stands just beside the village. Crewkerne station is around 11km to the south-east.
