What makes this small church special is its tower: built of Ham stone around 1510, it still holds ten of its medieval statues in their niches, among them the risen Christ and the Virgin — a rare survival, since most Somerset churches lost theirs at the Reformation. Hunky punks crouch below the battlements. It sits on the edge of the Levels at Isle Abbotts, open to visitors; Taunton is about 13km west.
