The Cruickshank is the University of Aberdeen’s botanic garden, founded in 1898 and tucked into Old Aberdeen behind the campus. Eleven acres of rock gardens, borders, a pond and an arboretum, with views across to St Machar’s Cathedral. Free to visit, and an easy, quiet detour if you’re exploring the old town. Aberdeen station is a couple of miles to the south.
