King’s College Chapel is the centrepiece of the University of Aberdeen’s old quad in Old Aberdeen, built between 1498 and 1509. Its crown tower — an openwork stone crown rebuilt after a storm in 1633 — has become the university’s emblem. Inside it keeps more medieval woodwork than any other church in Scotland: the carved oak choir stalls and screen make it the most complete late-medieval interior in the country. Open and free. Aberdeen station is a couple of miles to the south.
