George Washington’s garden at Mount Vernon has a period replica here, laid out in formal beds behind a white picket fence with a copy of his octagonal summerhouse. It sits in the American Museum’s hillside grounds at Claverton Manor, above the Avon east of Bath, which also take in a New American garden and an arboretum of American trees and shrubs. Museum and gardens charge admission. Bath Spa station is about 3km west.
