A Grade II-listed 16th-century pub in the Avon valley near Bath, the Hop Pole was bought by its own community in 2022 to save it from being lost to housing. It now runs a seasonal, farm-to-fork menu with much of the produce coming from the chef’s family farm a mile away. It is a handy valley stop: the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath is a couple of hundred metres east, with Midford Valley Woods just to the north for a short walk before or after.
