Royal Victoria Park opened in 1830, its ribbon cut by the eleven-year-old Princess Victoria seven years before she became queen — one of the first English parks to carry her name. It’s free to walk in at any time, with a botanical garden, a golf and crazy-golf course, tennis courts and a big play area, and the Royal Crescent forms a grand backdrop along its eastern edge. The Roman Baths and Bath Assembly Rooms are both a short walk into town.
