One of only a handful of genuine farm distilleries, Kilchoman grows, malts, distils and bottles its barley on Islay itself, out at Rockside Farm near Machir Bay. It opened in 2005 — the first new distillery built on the island in almost a century — and stays small and family-run. There’s a visitor centre with tours, plus a cafe and shop. Just inland from Machir Bay, so you can pair the beach with a dram.
