Bruichladdich has a reputation as Islay’s more experimental distillery, making unpeated malt alongside heavily peated bottlings and the well-known Botanist gin. It stands on the Rinns of Islay near Port Charlotte, its buildings still painted a distinctive aquamarine. Tours and tastings run through the day and can be booked online. If you’re touring the island’s distilleries, this is the one out on the western side, away from the peaty south-coast cluster.
