Machir Bay is a wide Atlantic beach of golden sand and tall dunes on Islay’s Rinns, a short walk from the car park off the B8018 near Kilchoman. The surf can be strong, so it’s better for a walk than a swim. Kilchoman Distillery is just inland if you fancy pairing the beach with a dram, and there’s an old war cemetery among the dunes.
