Broom House is an organic farm set high above the Browney valley at Witton Gilbert, with a shop selling its own home-reared beef, lamb and rare-breed pork, and a café alongside. It’s a nice spot to combine a farm lunch with a stroll, and there are walking trails around the fields. Chester-le-Street station is about 7km to the north-east.
