St Arvan’s takes its name from an early Welsh holy man, and the site may go back to Celtic times, though the present church is medieval. It stands at the village crossroads just north of Chepstow, on the road up towards Tintern and the Wye. A modest parish church rather than a set-piece one, open to visitors. Chepstow station is about 3km south-east.
