The little church at Fortingall was rebuilt in 1902 to a soft Arts-and-Crafts design by the architect James MacLaren, sitting low among the thatched cottages of this Glen Lyon village. Its real draw is the churchyard, which shelters the ancient Fortingall Yew — reckoned one of the oldest trees in Europe — along with early Christian cross-slabs and a massive old font. Open and free to look round. Blair Atholl is the nearest station, a good 22km off.
