Great Wymondley Castle preserves the earthworks of a former motte-and-bailey castle in Hertfordshire. The Albion Guide lists eleven motte-and-bailey castles in the county; this is one of them. For arrivals by rail, Hitchin Station is 2.4 km to the north-west.
