Embleton Bay curves for a mile of pale sand backed by dunes and a golf links, with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle closing off its southern end. It’s reached on foot over the dunes from Embleton village or from Low Newton-by-the-Sea at the northern tip — there’s no beachfront road, which keeps it quiet. At low tide the sands run wide and it’s a stunner.
