Whitekirk is barely more than a hamlet on the road between North Berwick and Dunbar, but its red sandstone parish church was once a major pilgrimage shrine to St Mary, drawing crowds in the Middle Ages to a holy well nearby. A two-storey tithe barn stands alongside it. East Linton is the nearest station, about 4km south.
