Whitekirk’s parish church is a striking medieval building of deep red sandstone, standing in the little hamlet of Whitekirk between North Berwick and Dunbar. In the Middle Ages it was a busy pilgrimage shrine dedicated to St Mary, with a holy well that drew crowds from far off. It’s open to visitors and free to look round. East Linton station is about 4km south.
