Once billed as the ‘Biarritz of the North’, North Berwick is a Victorian seaside town with two sandy beaches either side of a small harbour. The Scottish Seabird Centre on the point has live cameras trained on the gannet colony out on the Bass Rock, and boat trips run round the islands in season. The branch line brings you right into town, about half an hour from Edinburgh.
