Slaughterford hides in the By Brook valley between Castle Combe and Box, a few Cotswold-stone cottages with a small church and a mill on the water. A paper mill worked on the brook here for generations, the last of several mills along the valley. It’s a quiet spot for a riverside walk, off the tourist run that fills nearby Castle Combe.
