Overstrand was the fashionable end of ‘Poppyland’, the stretch of clifftop east of Cromer that Victorian and Edwardian Londoners took to after a journalist made its name in the 1880s. Edwin Lutyens designed two houses here, among them The Pleasaunce. It’s a quieter village now, with a shingle-and-sand beach below the crumbling cliffs. Roughton Road station is a couple of kilometres inland.
