Gunton Park’s water-powered sawmill, built in the 1820s to supply timber for the wider estate, is the only one of its kind still working in Norfolk. Norfolk Windmills Trust volunteers open it up on a handful of Sundays a year, spring to autumn, with a small cash admission and the waterwheel actually turning. The rest of the historic deer park and lake stay in private hands — Gunton Hall itself was long ago converted into private homes — though a waymarked path skirts the estate’s edge near Southrepps Common.
