The Tor rises over Glastonbury, its ruined tower a landmark for miles, and the town beneath is a mix of abbey ruins, the Chalice Well gardens and a High Street of crystal shops and cafes. Legend piles up here — Arthur, Avalon, the Holy Thorn. Castle Cary station, about 15km east, is the nearest mainline stop.
