Bram Stoker spent his summers at Cruden Bay and wrote much of Dracula here, with the gaunt clifftop ruin of Slains Castle just to the north said to have fed his imagination. The village itself has a long dune-backed beach and a celebrated links golf course. Walk north along the coast and you reach the Bullers of Buchan, a collapsed sea cave in the cliffs.
