Peterhead is the largest fishing port in Scotland and the easternmost town on the mainland, built out of the pinkish granite quarried nearby. It’s a busy, businesslike place rather than a tourist one, but the working harbour is a genuine spectacle when the boats are in. There’s no nearby railway — it’s roughly 40km from Dyce by road — so plan on driving.
