Ynysangharad Park sits on a green island between the Taff and the Rhondda at Pontypridd, laid out as a war memorial after the First World War. Its centrepiece is the restored 1927 lido — Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales — with open-air pools back in use in summer. There are bowling greens, a bandstand and a statue to the composers of the Welsh anthem, who came from the town. The station and the Old Bridge are just across the river.
