Twycross Zoo spreads over about 100 acres near the Warwickshire border and is best known for its primates. It’s the only UK zoo where you can see all four great apes together, gorilla, orang-utan, chimpanzee and bonobo, and it holds the country’s only bonobos. Founded in 1963 by two women who began with a handful of animals, it now keeps more than 500 across 125 species. Open to visitors year-round.
