Richard III was killed near here on 22 August 1485, the last English king to die in battle, when Henry Tudor’s army defeated him at Bosworth Field. The battlefield and its heritage centre lie a few miles south, toward Sutton Cheney. Market Bosworth itself is a handsome Georgian market town, with a country park on its edge and the Battlefield Line Railway running through the country to the west.
