Battlefield Line Railway
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
The Battlefield Line is a preserved country railway running the five miles from Shackerstone through Market Bosworth to Shenton, the last working stretch of the old Ashby and Nuneaton Joint line of 1873. Shenton station sits close to the Bosworth battlefield, where Richard III fell in 1485, so a visit pairs neatly with the battle site. Shackerstone at the northern end holds the headquarters, a museum and a tea room, with the Ashby Canal close by. Trains run on advertised days through the season.
