Prospect Cottage is the black-tarred fisherman’s cottage on the Dungeness shingle where the film-maker Derek Jarman made his garden of flint, driftwood and hardy plants in the 1980s. The yellow window frames and a poem set in wooden letters along one wall are well known. The garden is private, so it’s a view from the road only. It sits out on the Dungeness headland; Appledore is the nearest station, about 17km to the north-west.
