BALTIC is a contemporary art gallery filling a converted 1950s flour mill on the Gateshead bank of the Tyne. It has no permanent collection, so the shows rotate constantly across several floors, and there’s a top-level viewing box looking out over the river. Entry is free. It sits right beside the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and The Glasshouse, so the three are an easy afternoon strung along the quay.
