Gronant Dunes hold the only regular breeding colony of little terns in Wales, a fenced and warden-watched stretch of the dune SSSI between Prestatyn and Talacre Beach. Boardwalks keep walkers off the nesting shingle through the summer. The dunes run on into natterjack toad country, and Prestatyn station is a couple of kilometres to the east.
