The Royal Oak is a traditional coaching inn on the market square in Ripon, pouring local ales and well known locally for its Sunday lunch. There are rooms if you’re making a weekend of the cathedral city and nearby Fountains Abbey. Trains are a fair way off, with Thirsk about 14km to the north-east.
