The bar counter is the talking point at the Queen’s Head - a huge, elaborately carved Elizabethan bedstead pressed into service. This rambling old coaching inn runs along the road through Troutbeck, all heavy beams and small rooms, with food and rooms available. It makes a good pause on the low-level walk to the Townend farmhouse, or after a day on the surrounding fells.
