The Buttlands is Wells’s Georgian square, a wide tree-lined green just up from the harbour, and the Globe runs along one side of it. It’s an old coaching inn that still takes guests, with a restaurant leaning on the fish and shellfish landed nearby. A comfortable base for Wells-next-the-Sea and the beach huts and pinewoods beyond the quay.
