Built in 1397 by the Carthusian monks of Hinton Priory to house merchants at their wool fairs, the George Inn at Norton St Philip is one of the oldest continuously licensed inns in England. It keeps its galleried medieval frontage over the square, and was named AA Inn of the Year in 2024 and 2025. Freshford station is about 5km to the north.
