A tiny, gas-lit Cotswold alehouse of two rooms, beer served by gravity and an interior barely touched in a century, listed on CAMRA’s National Inventory for its historic importance. Long run single-handed, it is a rare survivor of the earliest kind of country pub. It makes a characterful pause near the open Cotswolds to the north, or on the way to the honeyed cottages of Bibury and St Mary’s church a few miles north-east.
