One of the string of Munros along the Ben Lawers ridge, Meall Garbh — the name simply means rough hill — reaches 1123m above the north shore of Loch Tay. A Munro is a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m), and this one sits between the sharp little top of An Stùc to the south-west and Meall Greigh to the east. Most people cross it as part of the long Lawers horseshoe, a big day that takes in Ben Lawers itself, the highest of the group. For the most part it’s grassy, rounded walking, in the hills above Glen Lyon and Loch Tay.
