Most people climb Beinn Ghlas without quite meaning to, since it’s the Munro (a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet, 914m) you cross on the usual route up its taller neighbour Ben Lawers. At 1103m it’s a grassy, rounded top on the ridge above Loch Tay, reached by the well-worn path from the Ben Lawers car park through the national nature reserve. Take the two together and you’ve a straightforward half-day on good paths, with the loch spread out below. The slopes are gentle and grassy, though the tops still catch cloud, so keep the map handy.
