Whatton’s gardens spread out below a Victorian house near Long Whatton, laid out from the 1870s with formal beds, long herbaceous borders and ornamental ponds. The oddity is the Chinese Garden, dotted with copies of the terracotta warriors among the planting. It sits in parkland on the Leicestershire–Nottinghamshire fringe and opens on selected days from spring to autumn.
