Some of the finest Anglo-Saxon carving in England survives inside this church: a long frieze of scrolls, birds and beasts above the chancel, and the serene figure known as the Breedon Angel. The priory church sits on a limestone crag above Breedon on the Hill, on the site of a Mercian minster founded around 675, with quarrying having eaten away much of the hill below. Open to visitors. The Three Horseshoes is down in the village.
