Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

The Outwoods is a hillside of ancient woodland above Loughborough, one of the oldest surviving woods in Charnwood, with outcrops of some of the oldest rock in England breaking through the trees. It’s best known for its bluebells, which sheet the northern slopes in spring, and the higher paths give views out over the forest towards Woodhouse Eaves. Open access all year. Loughborough station is around 5km to the north-east.
