Kiftsgate sits on a steep hillside just across the lane from Hidcote, its terraces dropping away below the house toward a view over the Vale of Evesham. Three generations of women have made it, starting with Heather Muir in the 1920s, and it’s known above all for the Kiftsgate rose — a vast Rosa filipes reckoned the largest rose in England, smothered in white bloom in mid-July. Open afternoons in the warmer months for a charge.
