Hartlebury was the palace of the Bishops of Worcester for more than a thousand years, right up to 2007, and still has its moat and a sweep of state rooms from a medieval Great Hall to a Georgian saloon. The north wing now holds the Worcestershire County Museum, with its old costumes, gypsy caravans and domestic bits and pieces. One ticket covers the palace, the museum and the grounds; there’s a charge to go in.
