Hesket Newmarket Brewery is a small co-operatively owned brewery — the community bought both it and the pub in front of it — tucked behind The Old Crown in the village of Hesket Newmarket. Its ales are named after the surrounding northern fells, Skiddaw and Blencathra among them. The pub is the place to try them on cask; brewery tours run by arrangement, so ring ahead if you’d like to look round.
