Ireby was once a busy little market town on the northern fells, with its own fairs and a market that faded away long ago. What’s left is a quiet village of stone houses, the old market cross still standing and a lonely Norman chapel, Ireby Old Church, out in the fields nearby. It sits between Caldbeck and the coast, well off the tourist routes.
