Set in a handsomely restored Victorian model farm near Bassenthwaite, The Lakes Distillery makes whisky, gin and vodka, with tours that walk you through the process and end in a tasting. There’s a bistro in the old farm buildings too, and alpacas in the paddock for anyone not there for the drink. Tours book up, so reserve ahead, and note the whisky side has an age minimum for tastings.
